Voyager Aviation Holdings (Voyager) has signed an agreement for the sale and leaseback of five A220-300 aircraft with Breeze Airways. The aircraft included in this transaction will deliver to Breeze from Q1 2022 to Q1 2023. This is Voyager’s first transaction with Breeze, as well as Voyager’s first addition of A220-300 aircraft to its fleet.
“We are delighted to inaugurate our partnership with the Breeze team and its founder David Neeleman, and we look forward to the successful launch of the airline,” said Mike Lungariello, President of Voyager. “We are also pleased that we will diversify our fleet and customer base by adding new, next-generation narrowbody aircraft on lease to an exciting new US carrier.”
The transaction was originated and arranged by Amedeo, which provides aircraft management services to Voyager. “Amedeo are thrilled to partner with the team at Breeze,” said Gabriella Lapidus, CCO of Amedeo. “This transaction demonstrates our ability to execute on sale-leaseback transactions despite the challenges presented by Covid-19, as well as best-in-class portfolio management. We are excited about the value proposition Breeze presents in this market and we are delighted to further build on this relationship.”
Breeze management was equally pleased to partner with Voyager as it puts together its fleet of brand new Airbus A220 aircraft for next year. Breeze Founder and CEO David Neeleman said: “Together, we’ll offer US travelers a new choice in air travel, and a much improved travel experience.”
Start-up airline Breeze Airways – scheduled to begin operations in 2021 – was founded by Neeleman, who previously co-founded several other airlines including WestJet, JetBlue, and Azul Airlines. Breeze aims to provide point-to-point service to secondary airports in the United States. The airline will launch with a fleet of Embraer E195 and Airbus A220-300 aircraft.
