Volaris reports April 2025 traffic

Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris reported its passenger numbers were up 14.8% to 2.6 million during April 2025, compared to the same period last year.

Domestic passengers were up 14.6% to 2 million, while international passengers climbed 15.4% to 649 million during the month.

However, the airline's load factor was down 3.1 percentage points to 81.6%. Domestic load factor was down 3.2 percentage points to 86.9%, while international load factor was down three percentage points to 73.9%.

“April figures reflect one of the most complex months to forecast capacity, given the macro volatility,” said Volaris president and CEO Enrique Beltranena.

Capacity was up 16.9% overall, with domestic and international capacity climbing 17.1% and 16.7%, respectively.

“We grew RPMs in both our domestic and international markets and, staying true to our ULCC model, proactively implemented competitive pricing strategies to sustain high occupancy levels while optimising TRASM,” added Beltranena.

RPMs grew 12.7% during the month. Beltranena said the company will “cautiously modulate growth” going forward to sustain profitability.
