VIRGIN ATLANTIC WILL SEEK COMPENSATION FOR 787 DELAYS

Amidst its rebranding event in Australia, Richard Branson, chairman of the Virgin Group, confirmed that Virgin Atlantic Airways expects further delivery delays of the 15 Boeing 787s it has on order and will be seeking compensation.

Dow Jones reports him saying: “We had some coming four years ago, three years ago, two years ago, one year ago and it looks like it’s delayed even further, so it’s been a nightmare. I think sadly we’ll be talking about another lot.”

Virgin Atlantic, which is 51% owned by Virgin Group and 49% by Singapore Airlines, has 15 787-9s, plus options for an additional eight 787-9s and purchase rights for an additional 20 787s on order and was expecting the first to be delivered this year.
