Virgin Atlantic and China Eastern have launched a new codeshare partnership, opening up six new destinations in China from a co-located base at Shanghai Pudong Terminal One.
The first phase of the partnership will allow customers booking through Virign Atlantic to connect from the airline’s London Heathrow to Shangai services to other Chinese destinations on one ticket, including Chengdu, Changsha, Qingdao, Shenzhen and Zi’an. Subject to government approval, China Eastern customers will also have the opportunity to connect via Heathrow onto Caribbean and African destinations.
“Our new codeshare with China Eastern, a fellow SkyTeam partner, will serve continued demand for travel to the region and strengthens our commitment to China and East Asia,” said Juha Jarvinen, chief commercial officer at Virgin Atlantic. The expanded partnership will also allow Virgin Atlantic Flying Club members to earn points on codeshare flights with China Eastern.
