Vinson & Elkins has appointed Harry Upcott as partner in its finance practice, based in London. His arrival supports the firm's continued expansion of the firm's global aviation finance capabilities.

Upcott advises financial institutions, lessors, private equity sponsors, operators, and airlines on complex financing, leasing, and M&A transactions in the aviation and satellite sectors. He has particular experience in advising on innovative, transformational, and high-value transactions and is known for providing commercially focused pragmatic advice to clients navigating these evolving markets.

"Harry is a market leader in our sector, not just in London but globally; he has built an incredibly strong reputation in the aviation finance market, and his experience adds further depth to our team,” said David Berkery, head of Vinson & Elkins’ aviation finance practice. “His arrival strengthens our ability to serve clients across the full spectrum of aviation finance matters, particularly as we continue to expand our footprint across key global markets.”

Upcott commented: “Vinson & Elkins has a clear focus on building a strong international platform in aviation finance. The firm's integrated capabilities across finance, capital markets and restructuring provide a market-leading platform for supporting clients in this dynamic sector.”

Upcott joins Vinson & Elkins from A&O Shearman where he had been a partner since 2009.
