Vietnam Airlines restores to pre-pandemic capacity on China routes

Vietnam Airlines is planning to resume five more routes between Vietnam and China in March and April 2023. With these routes on its schedule, the airline has  resumed nine out of 10 of its routes into Mainland China post-pandemic.

In March 2023, the airline will operate thrice weekly flights between Hanoi and Beijing. The airline will also resume four flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam to Guangzhou and Shanghai of China from the current two weekly flights.

From April 2023, Vietnam Airlines will reopen four routes between Da Nang and China’s Guangzhou, Shanghai and Chengdu as well as between Hanoi and Chengdu with twice weekly flights.

In addition, from September 2023, the airline plans to operate the wide-body aircraft Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 on its routes between Hanoi and Beijing; and between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and Shanghai.

Vietnam Airlines expects the number of passengers flying between the two countries to reach about 80% of the 8.1 million recorded in 2019.
