Vietjet signs $3.8bn Trent 7000 engine agreement with Rolls-Royce

Vietjet and Rolls-Royce have entered into a landmark agreement for 92 Trent 7000 engines, together with comprehensive maintenance services, valued at $3.8bn.

The Trent 7000 engines will power Vietjet’s upcoming fleet of 40 A330neo aircraft, enabling the low-cost carrier to operate non-stop services to Europe in future.

In addition to the engine order, Vietjet has subscribed to Rolls-Royce’s TotalCare maintenance programme, designed to maximise operational performance and extend engine lifespan.

The airline said the agreement will enhance its operational performance, reduce emissions, and promote greater investment ties between the UK and Vietnam.

The agreement exchange took place in the presence of To Lam, Vietnam’s general secretary, and Matt Western, UK trade envoy to Vietnam, during the Vietnam–UK High-Level Economic Conference in London.

Yesterday (October 30), Vietjet also announced an order of 100 A321neo aircraft, as covered by Airline Economics.

The A321neo aircraft will be made with wings that are designed in Bristol, England and manufactured in Broughton, Wales.
