VietJet orders CFMi engines for its A320-family order

Vietnam low-cost carrier (LCC) VietJetAir has selected CFM International CFM56-5B engines to power 14 Airbus A320ceos and seven A321ceos. The engine order was signed on Wednesday at the Singapore Airshow. VietJetAir noted it has been a CFM customer since it launched operations in late 2011 with leased CFM56-5B-powered A320s.

“Based on our experience with CFM to date, the CFM56-5B engine was the natural choice for our new A320ceos,” said Chu Viet Cuong, a member of the carrier’s board of directors.

“We are thrilled to take our relationship with VietJetAir to the next level,” CFMI VP-sales Gaël Meheust said.
