VicFalls Airways has secured its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) ahead of a planned international launch later this year.
In a statement, the airline said: “The company, which already has a B767-200(ER) aircraft going through a major maintenance check at Harare Int'l, will offer twice weekly direct flights to London Gatwick, Guangzhou (China) and Johannesburg O.R. Tambo (South Africa).”
Although Vic Falls Airways had secured its license from the Zimbabwean Ministry of Transport in 2010, plans to commence operations using a B767-200ER leased from Miami-based Arrivair failed after repeated attempts to secure adequate funding failed.
The start-up has secured traffic rights for domestic flights as well as operations to Dubai, India, South Africa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, and Mozambique.
