US SEC reportedly probing 737 safety claims
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is looking into claims made by executives against Boeing and the safety of its 737 MAX 9 aircraft, Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The investigation is reportedly looking at whether Boeing misled investors, violating securities laws. It is apparently looking into statements made before and after the Flight 1282 incident on January 5, where a door plug blew out on a 737 MAX 9 aircraft shortly after take-off. Reviews by the SEC can lead to large fines for the company. Bloomberg underlined the fact that it was just an investigation, which don't always lead to enforcement action. Boeing declined to comment. The SEC had declined to comment to the outlet.
