US regulators rule 787s to be given longer landing distances

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has ruled that the aircraft must maintain 10 miles behind Boeing’s new 787s during landing. The requirement calls for twice the distance aircraft are required to fly behind the 747-400.

This preliminary ruling is expected to be loosened once the flight tests are completed.

Boeing spokeswoman Yvonne Leach told US media that it is in process of discussing this report with FAA.
