Several US-based airlines have launched flights to new destinations in China.
American Airlines will launch new routes to Shanghai and Hong Kong from its hub at Dallas-Fort Worth this week, Delta plans to launch a non-stop flight between Hong Kong and Seattle next week, and United Airlines launched flights between San Francisco and Chengdu on Monday.
AA’s CEO Doug Parker described the new DFW-Shanghai and Hong Kong routes as “long term investments” for American Airlines.
The new routes are launched against a backdrop of industry concerns after this week’s news of European airlines’ disappointing financial results.
