Airbus has confirmed plans to upgrade the A320 with new engines from 2016. The European aircraft manufacturer is investing €1 billion in the A320neo project, which with new engines will cut fuel costs by 15%, improve efficiency and cut emissions and noise.
The new aircraft will look almost identical to the existing model just with efficient engines from either Pratt & Whitney or CFM International. These engines will be offered as an option on A320 and derivative A319 and A321 models, classic versions will still be on sale.
