United Airlines has selected 300 GE Aerospace GEnx engines to power its new Boeing 787 Dreamliners, the engine OEM shared yesterday (February 17).

The deal also includes additional spare engines and brings United Airlines' 787 fleet to over 200 GEnx powered aircraft.

“GE Aerospace has an enduring relationship with United that spans decades,” said GE Aerospace Commercial Engines & Services president and CEO Mohamed Ali. “This deal will make United the largest GEnx operator in the world, and we're honoured they continue to choose us to power their success.”

United currently operates a fleet of GE Aerospace and CFM — a 50/50 joint venture between GE and Safran — powered aircraft, including CF6, GE90, GEnx, CFM56-7B, LEAP, and CF34 engines.
