United Airlines has yet again extended its grounding period for Boeing's 737 Max jets until 3 November, a move which its estimated will result in the cancellation of another 5,000 flights.
The airline's previous grounding period was set for September 3 following two deadly crashes involving Boeing 737 Max aircraft.
A statement from the airline said: "United has gone to great lengths to minimise the impact on our customers’ travel plans," the airline says. "We’ve used spare aircraft and other creative solutions to help our customers, who had been scheduled to travel on one of our Max aircraft, get where they are going."
United becomes the latest airline to extend its grounding period following American Airlines cancellation of all its 737 Max flights until 3 September and Southwest not running 737 Max flights until 1 October.
There is no word on when the Boeing 737 Max jets will take to the skies.
