Unifly joins EUREKA project to advance European UAM
Unifly, a group company of the Terra Drone Corporation and a provider of unmanned aerial traffic system management (UTM) solutions, has joined the UREKA project to help integrate urban air mobility (UAM) into urban settings by 2026. Led by the European organisation for the safety of air transportation EUROCONTROL, the €12 million ($13 million) EUREKA project brings together 35 participants including airports, air navigation service providers, UAM manufacturers and other stakeholders. Together, they aim to establish four SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research) solutions: focusing on arrival and departure procedures, collaborative traffic management, disruption and emergency management, and capacity and operational management of future vertiports. The project intends to use certified unpiloted VTOL craft for cargo operations to validate the vertiport collective traffic management (VCTM) initiative, with validation and demonstration activities planned between Marh 2024 and December 2025 to be carried out in the controlled airspace between the islands of Mallorca and Menorca. “Our UTM solutions will contribute to creating a harmonious and efficient airspace, laying the foundation for the widespread adoption of UAM and revolutionizing the way people and goods move within cities,” commented Andres Van Swalm, CEO of Unifly.
