The UK Office of National Statistics and Stay In UK reports a sharp drop in the number of American visitors to the United Kingdom. Data shows there has been a 9% year on year decrease in North American visitors to the UK for first quarter of 2014 compared to the same period in 2013.
US tourists comprised 9% of all overseas visits to the UK in 2013 and were responsible for 12% of the total spend from all overseas visitors. A lack of Royal activity since the Royal Wedding in 2011 or sporting events since the Olympics in 2012 has been blamed for the dip in US visitors.
