UK-based all cargo start-up ‘One Air’ completes inaugural China-London flight

UK-based all-cargo airline, One Air recently completed its inaugural flight marking the re-entry of B747-400 freighter into UK markets. The flight was operated between, Jinan, China to London Heathrow.

The airline plans to regularly operate two weekly 747 freighter flights between Asia Pacific and Europe, with plans to add another 747 freighter to its fleet in the near future.

One Air was awarded its air operators’ certificate (AOC) by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) earlier this year.

Chris Hope, chief operating officer, said: “As well as ad hoc charter flights, we are now also commencing a regular flying programme from Asia Pacific to Europe with two B747F flights per week. Work is also under way to add a second B747F to our fleet, which we hope will enter service in early Q4.”

Going ahead, One Air plans to acquire more modern aircraft, such as the Boeing 777 freighter, according to a filing by the airline.

One Air will be the only active operator of the Boeing 747 aircraft in the United Kingdom following the retirement of all Boeing 747-400s by Virgin Atlantic and British Airways in 2020 and 2021.
