Turkmenistan Airlines to resume Russia’s Kazan route after three years

Turkmenistan Airlines is planning to resume flights between Turkmenistan's Ashgabat International Airport (ASB) and Russia's Kazan Airport (KZN) after a three-year hiatus following the pandemic. The airline is planning to operate B737 twice weekly on the route.

The relaunch of this route is a part of the airline's post-pandemic recovery and expansion plan. The airline is working on expanding its international presence once again, with several of its international destinations being in Russia.

Meanwhile, post the Russian invasion of Ukraine, many foreign airlines halted all flights to Russia, but Turkmenistan Airlines was one of roughly 30 airlines that continued flight operations to the country despite the war. In June 2022, the airline operated a total of five flights.

In July 2022, the airline relaunched a route to Moscow, bringing the total number of monthly flights to Russia to 14.
