Turkish plans expansion on Panama route

Turkish Airlines has increased its capacity in Panama by increasing air operations and seat offering. The airline started non-stop flights between Istanbul and Tocumen International Airport (PTY) in October 2022 and just within a couple of months, the airline is planning expansion on this route.

Though the airline is not drastically increasing the number of flights between Turkey and Panama, its seat capacity will increase by swapping aircraft types.

For the 2023 summer season, the company will operate to Tocumen Airport (PTY) with Airbus A350-900 aircraft with a capacity of 329 passengers offering 4,417 weekly seats, a 4% rise over 2022.

For the winter season, the airline will increase its non-stop operations to Panama by increasing the service to 4 weekly flights operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with a capacity of 300 passengers with 4,843 weekly seats.

The Turkish airline will continue to operate the triangulated route between Panama (PTY) and Bogota (BOG) with daily Boeing 777-300ER flights.

Last week, Turkish airlines began operations on a new European destination of Palermo. The airline will operate its Boeing 737-800 to the capital of Sicily four times per week starting May 5, 2022.  With the addition of flights to Palermo, Turkish will fly to eight Italian cities this summer, making Italy the second-most European country by the carrier.
