Volaris and Viva shareholders approve merger

Volaris and Viva Aerobus shareholders have approved the proposed merger agreement. Viva will be absorbed by Volaris under the deal.

An overwhelming majority of Volaris investors had approved the transaction at 91.85%.

Volaris' shareholders also approved a capital increase of $248 million to support the deal.

Volaris will assume all of Viva's assets, liabilities, right, and obligations. The merger still requires regulatory approvals from Mexico, the US, and Colombia.

Once approved, the merger will create a larger low-cost airline group with expanded scale.
