Transavia to be rebranded as a LCC

Dutch charter airline Transavia is being transformed into a low cost carrier as part of an initiative aimed at achieving cost cuts of 15% across the airline, according to chief executive Matthijs ten Brink, who said the cuts were necessary to “keep ticket prices competitive”.

The rebranding means Transavia will compete directly with airlines such as Ryanair and Easyjet, and lessen its reliance on the leisure/charter market. The airline stated that more details will be announced on September 8th.

Transavia is owned by Air France-KLM and operates from all five Dutch airports: Schiphol, Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Maastricht and Groningen.
