Traffic from Munich Airport to Asia surpasses pre-pandemic level

An increasing number of aircraft movements at Germany’s Munich Airport is reflected in record numbers of services to Asia in the upcoming 2024 summer flight schedule.

A total of nine airlines are currently planning 107 weekly flights to 14 destinations in 10 countries in east and south Asia during the summer season, a new record for the airport. In the pre-pandemic 2019 summer schedule, there were 101 flights operated by five airlines to 10 destinations in seven countries.

To help meet the growing demand, Lufthansa intends to periodically deploy its A380 on the route to Delhi from April 1. A Munich to Beijing service will be increased from three weekly flights to daily services, while flights to Osaka will increase from five a week in April and seven a week in May. All Nippon Airways is also increasing its service in Munich from four to seven weekly flights from July 2 2024.
