Topi Manner has resigned as chief executive officer at Finnair to join the Finnish telecommunications firm Elisa Corporation. The search for a successor is underway, but as of now, there is no news of the replacement. Topi Manner will continue serving as Finnair's chief executive till March 1, 2024.
Manner faced significant crises during his tenure, including the COVID-19 pandemic and Russian airspace closure. Under his leadership, Finnair garnered an operating profit of €67.1 million in H1.
Speaking about his tenure at Finnair, Manner commented: “My time at Finnair has been characterised by the exceptional crises we faced. This has been the ultimate stress test for the entire Finnair team. I am extremely proud of the way our organisation has responded, adapted, and succeeded. It has been an honour to be a part of this team effort and feel the Finnair spirit."
Manner joined Finnair as the chief executive in 2019, prior to Finnair he was working at Nordea Bank and Luminor.
Thanking Manner, Sanna Suvanto-Harsaae, chairman, board of directors, Finnair said: “I want to thank Topi warmly for his leadership during the past very difficult years. Finnair has emerged from the double crises as a strong airline, as witnessed by our Q2 financial performance.
