Toki Air secures AOC, will commence ops from June 2023

Toki Air, Japanese startup has secured its air operator’s certificate (AOC) from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and will commence scheduled flights from June 30, the airline said. The airline will start two roundtrips per day between Niigata and Sapporo Okadama.

The airline has two ATR72-600s in its fleet on lease from Nordic Aviation Capital.

Toki Air, a joint venture between the Niigata Chamber of Commerce and Niigata Association of Corporate Executives will be Japan’s first new independent airline launch in last 14 years.

The airline had filed the application for AOC in November 2022.

Interestingly Toki Air will operate from its base at Niigata airport is the only airline based at Niigata. It was mainly established to improve connectivity to and from the Niigata airport

Toki Air has entered into a general terms agreement (GTA) with Taiwan-based Air Asia Company Limited (AACL) to provide maintenance checks, repairs, and other services on its ATR fleet.
