Tiger Airways Australia is celebrating new services between Sydney and Cairns commencing from today. The airline’s inaugural service from Sydney will touch down at Cairns Airport at around 9am local time.
Tiger Airways has already indicated strong consumer support for the popular destination by announcing the current four-weekly return services between Sydney and Cairns will increase to seven (or one daily return service) by June 2013, delivering up to 2520 additional visitor seats through Cairns Airport weekly.
Tiger Airways Head of Communications, Vanessa Regan says “Tiger’s new services to Cairns further increase Tiger’s presence in Queensland; an ever popular state for our customers to visit, particularly as we head into the winter season when many Sydneysiders and Victorians are seeking an affordable escape to sunny Queensland. However we’re also providing fantastic low fare options for Cairns residents to travel to Australia’s largest cities - just in time for the winter football season.”
Ms Regan continues “Early sales on our new route have been pleasing and we expect the momentum to continue now that the route is operating. As an airline that evolves based on customer demand, we’re confident our new services between Sydney and Cairns will prove successful.”
Cairns Airport GM Aeronautical Development & Marketing, Janice Antonson, says “Cairns Airport welcomes the new Tiger service from Sydney, following the success of their Melbourne service which recommenced last April. Sydney to Cairns has always been a popular route and the addition of two and a half thousand seats during the peak season will provide a great to boost passenger numbers.”
