Romania's AIAS have confirmed that a Turkish Airlines A330-300 “destroyed 10 edge lights” on the north side of the runway at IAG Istanbul Airport, alongside an information board The incident, which took place on April 17, 2024, involved Turkish Airlines flight TK1046, using an A330-343E, flying from Bucharest to Istanbul. According to a report by the Romania’s AIAS, following take off “the personnel managing the movement surface found the destruction of a number of 10 marginal beacons on the North side of the runway, as well as an information board indicating the exit from taxiway G. “Exfoliation of a portion of the runway siding on the North side was also found along the length of the area where the beacons were broken. “The AIHCB administrator proceeded to replace the broken beacons immediately without needing to interfere with air traffic. Aircraft TC-LOC landed at 20:27 UTC at Istanbul airport, and was grounded after taxiing following a problem reported by the crew regarding the front landing gear”.
