The routes previously operated by Tigerair Mandala, which ceased operations on July 1st, are to be operated by Nam Air, Lion Air and Citilink. The final disposition will be decided by the Indonesian Transport Ministry later this week.
Tigerair Mandala ended all services on July 1st, citing rising costs and strong competition amid a weakening currency.
Arif Wibowo, president and chief executive at Citilink, a subsidiary of flag carrier Garuda Indonesia, announced over last weekend that the company was keen to take over the vacant routes.
“We have to strengthen our domestic flights because that’s our backbone. We are set to fly those routes,” Arif said.
