French aerospace electrical systems and equipment manufacturer Thales is to set up an avionics MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) facility in Delhi, aimed at servicing the needs of its airline customers.

According to the Economic Times, vice president and country director of Thales India Ashish Saraf said the company is fully committed and mobilised to support the venture, describing the new MRO facility as a “key initiative”.

The publication also reported that Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and French president Emmanual Macron (who was a guest in Jaipur) resolved to further strengthen strategic co-operation across the defence, security, trade and clean energy sectors.

Thales has been present in India since 1952 with offices and operational sites spanning Noida, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune among others. Its two engineering competence centres in India employ more than 1,400 engineers, with its Delhi base focusing on digital identity and security businesses.
