Thailand is all set for a $8.83bn construction of U-Tapao aviation city to drive the growth of aviation industry in Thailand. The project is named as Eastern Aviation City and will also include a free trade zone for cargo, an aviation training centre and aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities.

As a part of the project, the U-Tapao airport will be revamped and converted into a new international airport linked up with a budget terminal, Don Muang airport, and the country's main Suvarnabhumi Airport.
