Thai Lion Air is planning to add another two B737 to its fleet adding up the total to 13 as the airline plans to ramp its capacity to take maximum advantage of the recently opened China border. Thai Lion Air flies to 10 Chinese destinations from is Bangkok hub with a load factor of 80%.
Going ahead the airline plans to expand its routes to Wuhan, Shenzhen and Hangzhou soon.
Thai Lion Air aims to have an 18 strong fleet of B737s by the end of the year, still around half of the 35 aircraft it had in 2019.
Speaking to Bangkok post, Nuntaporn Komonsittivate, head of commercial operations, Thai Lion Air said: “That expansion will be facilitated by the arrival of additional aircraft, including another two B737s in May and three in July. The incoming aircraft will be a mix of B737-800s and B737-900s. Presently, the airline operates only B737-800s.”
