Thai Airways International is planning to issue a Request for Proposal for 30 widebody and undisclosed number of narrowbody aircraft. The airline also confirmed plans to lease twelve A321-200Ns with deliveries in 2025 and 2026. The Chief Executive Chai Eamsiri disclosed airline’s fleet plans while speaking to Reuters.
Refraining from giving the exact number of narrowbody aircraft involved in the process, Eamsiri said that the tenders would soon be sent to Airbus and Boeing. He also expressed the need to increase the airline narrowbody fleet in the next decade to 30 -40 aircraft.
The airline’s subsidiary Thai Smile currently operates 20 A320, the subsidiary will soon be merged into the parent airline with plans to add another 12 A321neo in the next five years.
Apart from the planned RFPs for 30 widebody aircraft, the airline is also planning to source another ten new widebody on dry lease with deliveries by A1 of 2024.
