Chai Eamsiri, the Chief Financial Officer of THAI Airways International, has been promoted as Chief Executive Officer effective February 1, 2022. In the new role, Eamsiri will be responsible for the restructuring committee and oversee the airline's recovery.
Eamsiri has over 37 years of experience in the Thai aviation industry especially in achieving the Rehabilitation Plan amendments including earning new loans, restructuring capitals, and managing financial discipline to boost profit and accomplish the plan.
He has played a vital role in the Rehabilitation Plan implementation and transformation of THAI Airways in the past two years.
"The appointment is a crucial next step to build trust and confidence among the creditors, passengers, and business partners," the airline said in a statement.
The airline had an acting CEO since 2020 and had opened applications for the job in September 2022. Eamsiri was chosen from 53 internal and external candidates.
Thai Airways began the bankruptcy-protected restructuring of debt worth $11.17 billion in 2021.
