Tata SIA Airlines has applied for an air operator's permit with the Indian aviation regulator the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Typically a certificate takes two to three months to be approved.
Tata SIA submitted the application after it received a no-objection certificate from the civil aviation ministry on April 3. The airline has also sought permission to import 20 A320s on lease.
