TAP joins Latin American air transport organisation ALTA

The Latin America and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) has announced the associate membership of Portuguese flag carrier TAP.

TAP Air Portugal counts as the fourth-biggest carrier in Brazil with 1.5 million passengers a year, ALTA said, explaining the tie-up.

"We are very proud to welcome TAP Air Portugal as one of our partner members. It is an airline that has recovered solidly after two years of the pandemic, offering excellent service and always looking to innovate to meet the needs of travellers, especially in these changing times," said ALTA chief executive and managing director José Ricardo Botelho.

"The Brazilian market is the most important for TAP abroad and we always want to maintain and improve this connection with the Brazilians, but also with South America" said TAP chief executive Christine Ourmières-Widener.
