TAP Air Portugal has received an ESG Risk Rating of 24.4 from Morningstar Sustainalytics, scoring above 92% of global airlines following an assessment of its ESG risk exposure and ESG risk management ratings.
The Portuguese flag carrier scored second out of 14 European airlines and sixth out of a total of 71 global carriers evaluated, with Morningstar concluding its overall management of material ESG issues to be ‘strong and above the subindustry average’.
The TAP approach to sustainability is based on a holistic management model, notes the airline, and one which ‘considers the importance of the environmental and social dimensions, as well as the need to guarantee the financial resilience of the business’. As part of its sustainability strategy, the carrier also operates one of the world’s youngest fleets, exclusively comprising Airbus next-generation neo aircraft as well as 19 Embraer aircraft for regional routes.
