Tanzania is in talks with investors interested in buying a stake in the state-run Air Tanzania after its previous privatisation to South African Airways failed when that airline pulled out of its 49% shareholding for just $20m after five years. Tanzania’s national flag carrier has been forced to suspend operations after its only remaining aircraft, a Dash 8, was flown to South Africa for maintenance. Strategic investors will no doubt be looking at routes for value as there is not much else at this time.
