Taiwan and Israel sign agreement

Taiwan and Israel have signed a bilateral agreement paving the way for direct flights and boosting relations. The agreement gives both countries access to one another’s air space for commercial purposes and regulates carrier operations and tie-ups. It is also expected to facilitate people-to-people exchanges and help increase bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation.

The agreement is the third concluded by Taiwan and Israel in recent years, following a visa-waiver deal in 2011 and a tax treaty in 2009.
