Canadian low-cost airline Swoop's first flight to Cuba landed in Varadero on January 11 after taking off from Toronto-Pearson earlier in the day.
"As Canada's favourite sun and fun ultra-low-cost carrier, we are thrilled to celebrate our launch into Cuba," said Bob Cummings, the airline's president.
"Varadero is widely known as a Canadian favourite for affordable beach vacations, and so we're proud to provide Torontonians a new ultra-convenient, ultra-not-expensive option for travel to Playa Azul," Cummings added.
Swoop has also started a service connecting Hamilton and Punta Cana, it announced on January 11.
