Swissport is all set to expand its roots in northern Europe as it has taken over the aviation fuelling and customer portfolio operations from Shell Aviation at Helsinki airport in Finland. Initially, Swissport's new fuelling unit in Finland is expected to deliver approximately 85 operations per day starting from October 1, 2022
Markus Vahtera, Swissport’s Managing Director Finland, said: “We are extremely pleased to further complement our portfolio of aviation services in Finland with fuelling at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. The addition of fuelling to our broad service portfolio fits well with our expertise in complex hub operations. It delivers on our ambition to be the go-to brand that airlines turn to for whatever ground service they may need.”
Swissport said, prior to the pandemic, it fuelled over 2.3 million flights on an annual basis, averaging one flight fuelled every 14 seconds.
