Swissport has won what is said is a "major contract from Sky Airline" for ground services and cargo handling at the 15 airports the budget carrier serves in Chile
The company has separately agreed with Düsseldorf Airport on a 74.9% shareholding in the airport's cargo unit, which chief executive Warwick Brady described as "a great example how we intend to partner with airports globally to strengthen their ground services and cargo handling offerings".
In Chile, Swissport will serve passengers at check-in and gates, handle aircraft on the ramp, manage lost and found, and load and unload cargo as part of its Sky Airline deal, with 35,000 flights a year covered.
“We are thrilled to have secured this significant contract with Sky Airline, which will establish Swissport as the leading service provider in Chile,” says Guillermo Alonso, managing director of Swissport in the region, where the company works with carriers at dozens of airports, including 16 in Brazil and nine in Argentina.
