Lars Wingefors, the eponymous holding company of the Swedish video game tycoon, has announced its first acquisition of an aviation firm plus three additional aircraft.
Last week, Wingerfors confirmed that it has acquired Täby Air Maintenance (TAM), an MRO based in Örebro, Sweden, in addition to three Saab 2000 aircraft.
Both TAM and the three aircraft were previously owned by Swedish shipping and cargo firm Erik Thun, which will exit the aviation sales and leasing space following the acquisition.
TAB has offered advanced maintenance and modification services for regional aircraft since 1989, with a particular focus on the Swedish-made Saab 340 and Saab 2000, and also ATR aircraft.
Erik Thun said the deal marks a “natural next step” in TAM's development, and means that the company will have a new owner with new ambitions in both civil and defence-related aviation.
The three Saab 2000 aircraft included in the transaction will complement Wingefors' existing fleet and will be offered on the leasing market, Erik Thun added.
In December 2024, Wingefors announced that his firm would be starting a new airline, Sola Air, based in Karlstad, Sweden.
In April 2025, Sola Air began flying between Karlstad and Copenhagen, and in September 2025, it began flying between Karlstad and Stockholm.
Prior to Wingefors’ latest acquisition, Sola Air had a total fleet of four Saab 340s, each with 36 seats.
Wingefors’ holding company is the largest shareholder in Embracer Group, a $2.5bn conglomerate and Europe's largest gaming company, which owns over 250 video game franchises.
