STRIKE THREATENS QANTAS FIJI FLIGHT SCHEDULE

Qantas flights to and from Fiji could be disrupted owing to threats from the Transport Workers Union to strike over protests over Fiji’s military regime’s draft decree that could  see workers in the airline industry lose up to 60 per cent of their wages.

Transport Workers Union (TWU) secretary Tony Sheldon said there had been a "continuing deterioration" of human and workers rights in Fiji and that Qantas had a responsibility to its Fijian workers who work for Air Pacific, controlled by the airline and subsidiary Jetstar.

He said the Qantas board should “denounce this decree, and protect its employees across the supply chain".
