Stephanie Pope will no serve as chief operating officer of Boeing, the company said in an SEC filing on February 25, 2025.
This was made effective February 19, 2025. However, Pope will still continue to serve as the president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
Pope was one of several people thought to potentially succeed former Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun after his departure last year. However, that position was filled by Kelly Ortberg in August 2024. Ortberg was a former CEO of Rockwell Collins.
Pope was named chief operating officer in late 2023 as Calhoun talked of potential retirement. This was ahead of the Alaska accident in January 2024. Pope was then named CEO of the commercial planes arm of the business three months later.
The chief operating officer role was a legacy role from Calhoun's time. The changes were made to streamline the business.
The filing also noted that former SUEZ Sabrina Soussan will not stand for re-election to serve on the company's board of directors at the company's 2025 annual shareholder meeting. The decision was mutual and was “not due to any disagreement".
The board approved a reduction of its size, effective as of the 2025 annual shareholders meeting.
