Spirit Airlines has increased its check bag weight allowance to 50 pounds, bringing it up from 40 pounds and aligning it with the US legacy carriers' baggage allowance.
In addition, it has extended future travel vouchers expiration to 12 months for vouchers issues on or after June 3, 2024. It comes after Spirit recently launched its no change or cancel fee policy.
""These enhancements provide each and every one of our guests unparalleled flexibility and peace of mind, and it's just the beginning of our pursuit to make affordable travel easier and more seamless than ever,"" said Spirit executive vice president and chief commercial officer Matt Klein.
Spirit's merger with JetBlue was terminated in March, following the US Department of Justice blocking the merger in January. The low-cost carrier posted a $140 million net loss in the first quarter of 2024.
