Spirit Airlines recently celebrated 15 years of flying to Colombia. Over the years, Spirit has grown its network extensively in Colombia with almost 500 monthly return flights between the US and Colombia
The airline flies to seven Colombian destinations, including Bogota, Cali, and Medellin, as passenger demand between the two countries has steadily increased in the last few years.
Ted Christie, president and chief executive, Spirit Airlines, commented: “Our Guests in Colombia have really embraced our low-fare, high-value model over the last 15 years, allowing us to offer even more options to travelers across the country and grow our service to seven Colombian cities.”
The airline celebrated the occasion with a $100,000 donation to the Mano Amiga school in Zipaquirá, a nonprofit that transforms the lives of children in need through education. It also offered limited-time anniversary fares on flights from Colombia for travel from September 5 to November 8, with no blackout dates.
Spirit Airlines first operated flights to Colombia in 2008, launching service in Bogota (BOG) and Cartagena (CTG) 15 years ago. Over the years, its network has increased to include Armenia (AXM), Barranquilla (BAQ), Cali (CLO), Medellin (MDE), and Bucaramanga (BGA).
In April this year, the airline celebrated 30 years of flying to the Sunshine State, where it first touched down in 1993.
