S&P Global rates LATAM Airlines most sustainable airline group in Latin America
The most recent Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) conducted by Standard and Poor’s (S&P Global) has named LATAM Airlines as the top-performing airline group in terms of sustainability in Latin America, as well as the seventh globally. The carrier was also the only airline group from the region to feature in the 2024 Sustainability Yearbook. To qualify, companies must score within the top 15% of their industry and achieve a S&P global sustainability score within the top 30% of the best-performing countries in their area. “Being recognized as the most sustainable airline group in the region is merely the result of systematic work towards carbon neutrality and a circular economic model, contributing to the fight against climate change and adding value to the economies we connect,” commented highlighted Juan José Toha, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at LATAM Airlines Group. Other entrants in the 2024 Sustainability Yearbook included Japan Airlines (with a top 1% S&P Global CSA Score). China Airlines, ANA Holdings and EVA Airways all placed within the top 5%, while American Airlines and Air France-KLM also featured on the list.
