Southwest Airlines has extended its flight schedule through April 2024 as that tourists can book their spring break flights in advance. The airline is adding new international routes from Baltimore, including flights to Belize and several destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico.
Most of the airline’s expansion is concentrated around St. Louis, Baltimore, and Austin and has extended its schedule through April 8, 2024. Apart from the new international routes from three cities the airline is bringing back several routes in high demand.
From Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, Southwest is launching a weekly flight to Belize, departing on Saturdays. The new route will launch on March 9, the same day Southwest will relaunch a few international routes from Baltimore. Also, on Saturdays, Southwest will fly to Grand Cayman, Turks and Caicos, and Cabo San Lucas. On weekends, Southwest will also fly to Panama City.
Southwest will launch seasonal nonstop service to Cabo San Lucas, St. Louis to Punta Cana and from Austin to Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta, and Panama City starting March 9, 2023.
Southwest is also expanding domestically. From Baltimore, it will fly to Destin/Ft. Walton Beach along with three seasonal Florida routes from St. Louis to Palm Beach, Pensacola, and Destin/Ft. Walton Beach.
The airline will also launch daily St. Lousi to San Franciso route, one weekly flight every Saturday to Puerto Rico and daily flights to Charleston starting March 7.
Last week, Southwest announced it was converting some of its Boeing 737 MAX 7 (737-7) orders to the MAX 8s (737-8) because of delays in the certification process of the MAX 7s. Though Southwest swapped 24 aircraft from MAX 7 orders to MAX 8s, the carrier still has a significant amount of the smaller variant on order. The carrier expects to receive almost 400 new aircraft from Boeing in the coming years.
