Southwest Airlines has nominated 14 candidates to stand for election at the upcoming annual shareholder meeting on May 15, 2024. Lisa Atherton has been nominated by the board to join as a new director, while current directors Ron Ricks and John Montford will not stand for re-election.
If all nominees are elected, the board will reduce from its current 15 members to 14. Chair of the board’s nominating and corporate governance committee Veronica Biggins explained that “as the board continues to evolve,” it is “reasonable” to expect its size to reduce naturally.
“Lisa brings a wealth of knowledge and experience across aviation, defense, and government contracting, combined with her expertise in leading highly complex programs and strategic initiatives,” concluded Southwest Airlines president and chief executive officer Bob Jordan.
