Southwest Airlines will roll out the Starlink Wi-Fi solution on its fleet.
The airline said it plans to “rapidly integrate” the solution. By the end of 2026, the airline will have upgraded over 300 aircraft with SpaceX's Starlink.
“Free WiFi has been a huge hit with our Rapid Rewards members and we know our customers expect seamless connectivity across all their devices when they travel,” said Southwest Airlines EVP chief customer & brand officer Tony Roach.
“We're thrilled to deliver a connectivity experience to Southwest Airlines and its Customers that really is similar, if not better, than what you can experience in your own home,” said SpaceX VP of Starlink Enterprise Sales Jason Fritch.
“We are bullish on this initiative by Southwest,” said TD Cowen analyst Tom Fitzgerald. “Management has consistently noted a focus on being agile and moving quickly to adapt to the evolving needs of their customer base.”
The Starlink offering is part of the airline's strategy to improve its cabin experience, including premium seating, updated cabin and aircraft seat design, and extra legroom options.
